Update: per SFD, the fire was accidental, caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. The fire investigator determined that improperly discarded smoking materials in a rooftop deck planter box caused the fire. The damage estimate is $10,000 to the contents and $30,000 to the structure. There were no injuries.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, Seattle Fire Department responded to a building fire at 800 W Nickerson St. According to tax records, the multi-family building at the location has 5 apartment units.
Several people sent in tips on the fire via both email and Twitter – images are thanks to Mark Dunford, who snapped these images at the scene early this morning.
No updates from SFD on the condition of the building or safety of the residents.
